My representatives have just left North Korea, after a very productive meeting and a second summit date has been set with Kim Jong Un. The meeting will take place in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, on February 27th and February 28,”, Trump said on Twitter.
“Earlier this week, Trump announced the dates for the second summit with Kim and said it would be held in Vietnam, but the city had not been discovered.
Stephen Bieg, the US Special Representative for North Korea, held three days of talks in Penian to prepare for the summit, the State Department said on Friday. He said the Bieg had agreed with counterpart Kim Hyok Chol to meet again before the summit.
In their talks in Peniane, from Wednesday to Friday, Bieg and Kim Hyok Chol “discussed advancing the commitments of the Trump and Kim presidents, at the Singapore summit, towards full deregulation, transformation of US-based relations. The DPRK and construction of a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula”, the Department said.
Her statement, referring to North Korea with the acronym for its official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave no sign of any progress in the talks.
