Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will develop new weapons and go west, and its decision-making centres if the West brings in medium- and long-range missiles to Europe, Periscope translates.
The threat, said to describe Washington and other Western capitals, came after the United States and Russia withdrew from the 1987 Treaty on the Intermediate Nuclear Forces.
Speaking to senior Russian officials in Moscow, Putin said that if the West took this step, it would reach Moscow in 10 minutes, and that it would put Russia at risk, and that Moscow would be forced to consider “symmetrical and asymmetrical action”.
This speech, the first equivalent to the one Trump gave a few days ago, was mostly focused on the economy, however.
But Trump's withdrawal from the deal has also raised serious concerns among security experts about the eventual outbreak of World War III. /Periscopi
