Castle de la Roca is placed on a basalt rock about a mile long and 50m high. It was created by the volcanic eruption, and the erosion of the two rivers was given a special view.
It is part of Garrotx National Park, a paradise for the lovers of dramatic nature in northeast Spain, which has 40 extinct volcanoes. While there is no danger from mortar, this area is still seismically active, and random earthquakes are not unusual.
The narrow streets and unforgettable images of Castle de la Rocae give me mystical experiences. The oldest houses are partially constructed of volcanic rock, where medieval squares and old churches follow.
Tourists who want to sleep in the village and not only walk in its streets have private rooms and hotel dorms.
The village has about 1,000 inhabitants. There are also two museums. One is dedicated to meat and sausage, and you can see the tools used in the production of sausages and other processed products. The other is dedicated to the Vietnam War.
