Only 26 % of the Albanians are generous and kind and formally, according to a recent report, we are among the most difficult in Europe. Meanwhile, Kosovo Albanians result this year as the most generous of the Balkans.
Out of the 140 nations considered, Albania ranks 108 in terms of generosity. According to the report, Albania has lost 13 degrees in its 2017 report.
The best in the region ranks 66th Kosovo, which is followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina in 90th, Montenegro 116th, Serbia 129th and Macedonia 130th.
The Global Giving Index 2018, recently published by the CAF Institute (Charity Aid Foundation), is labeled as the leading study on generosity. The index ranks 140 states in three categories: foreign aid, donation of money and volunteer work time, the Monitor broadcasts.
According to specifications, 42% of Albanians do not hesitate to help a foreigner when he is asked for help, ranking 108th in the world. On the other hand, 28 % of Albanians have donated money last year, thus ranking 64th in the world. As for the donation of time for volunteerism, 7 % Albanians have donated their time for charity or some similar cause, considered in the world's last 10 for this indicator, the 134 respectively.
Even according to another survey last year, by Gallup International polls, Albanians resulted surprisingly among the only people in the world who prefer to donate money and not time for charity.
Who are the most generous countries under the 2018 Index?
Indonesia leads the World CAF Index for the first time. While Indonesia's three individual results are generally unchanged since last year when the country was placed in second place, it now moves to first place, lowering from multi-year protection of the state of Myanmar, which has dropped to ninth place after four years in the number one in Index.
Significantly, more people throughout the globe reported helping a foreigner and offering voluntary time, while the money - giving proportion has fallen for the second consecutive year. The world's global production of money in 2017 is still at its lowest level since 2013. Money donation has been increased by developed countries (from 40% to 42%), but has declined among developing countries (from 25% to 24%).
