The last three nights before the independence declaration, then president Fatmir Sejdiu had waited almost breakfast in the office, signing documents as recognition requirements that would be addressed to countries of the world.
In addition, internal discussions were great, as to who would read the declaration of independence.
Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi, internationals had demanded that the man reading the declaration be Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.
But Kransiqi, who says it was of little importance who read the declaration, considers himself to be the man who declared independence.
The first man to sign the act of independence, President Fatmir Sejdiu, says February 17th of 2008 will remain as the most important day in his life.
Like Krasniqi, Sejdiu says Hashim Thaci has already read a statement meaning expressions of the will of the people, but the primary responsibility was that of MPs who voted.
11 years later, Sejdiu says no one can have a mandate to discuss integrity and sovereignty -- no one in institutions, according to him -- can have the power to overcome the Constitution.
Sejdiu has said that Kosovo should maintain partnership with those who have helped us from the early days.
While the former head of the Parliament, Krasniqi, says border play is dangerous. He said normalising relations with Serbia would have to happen with those borders with which Kosovo was declared state 11 ago. /Time.net
