Albanians marry more than other peoples in Europe

Kosovo Albanians also have a high number of marriages linked to 1,000 residents, though 2017 data has not been updated. According to Eurostat in Kosovo during 2016, about 9 marriages per 1,000 inhabitants, 1 more marriage than in Albania. In Serbia, the number of marriages of 1,000 people in 2017 was 5.1 marriages per 1,000 people, in Montenegro 5.3 and in Macedonia with 6.6 per 1,000 marriages.
The average weddings across the European Union during 2017 were 4.3 per 1,000 people.
According to Eurostat data, in 2017, European Union countries (BE) with the largest number of marriages reported to the population were Lithuania (7.5 marriages per 1,000 inhabitants) and Romania (7.3). These were followed by Cyprus and Latvia (two, 6.8) and Malta (6.3).
By contrast, the lowest rate of marriages across Europe was 3 marriages per 1,000 residents, which were reported in Slovenia (3.1), Italy and Luxembourg (two, 3.2) and Portugal (3.3).
