There will be elections in 2020, but whether they will be held on 12 April or not depends on the approach of the opposition in the Assembly.
This is Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's comment given on the “Economic Mugazine” programme that tonight is broadcast in Alsat.
The first Government insists the first elections for 12 April could be postponed until the opposition risks salaries, pensions and investments.
There will be no “however there will be elections and there must be. Tonight we talk about economics, the strongest reason, entrepreneurs, businesses, households and so on. So these are also why elections can be postponed if someone continues to jeopardise economic plans as part of the government. That's why I'm not going to allow someone to be unacceptably, irregularly, publicly, block salaries, pensions, economic policies, investments, development and many other things with the sole aim of electoral and political calculations”, Zaev said.
Zaev earlier even said he might not give up on January 3rd, as the Equipment Agreement for Technical Governance predicts, precisely because of opposition constructions.
I don't intend to resign until someone keeps blocking the processes. Without my resignation there can be no procedure for the technical government”, he said.
Although Zaev's departure is questioned, Alsat learns that in his country as technical prime minister is expected to be appointed Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski.
The VMRO-DPMNE has still accused the prime minister of fearing elections. This party estimates Zaev has sniffed defeat and therefore calls for alibi for their postponement. Hristian Mickoski's party insists on the date for elections, threatening revolt in terms of democratic means.
“The VMRO-DPMNE will not accept the gambling that Zaev is playing and will not accept conditions. Zaev has long been unable to set conditions because he no longer has credibility and elections are the only solution. If he this time puts his personal interests before state interests and citizens, in order to escape responsibility and keep stealing the state, he will face the revolt of the people, the VMRO- DPMNE and the whole state. We will act jointly with the people in the defence of democracy and without accepting provisions<1>, said Alexander Nikolovski, deputy chairman of VMRO-DPMNE.
According to consensus among political parties, on January 3rd the government must take on technical character.
On Friday, the LSDM is expected to gather party organs for the name of the technical prime minister.
The VMRO-DPMNE say the quodro case for technical Government has not yet been opened in party bodies. Even the opposition warns that possible names are expected Friday.
