With a delay of two months, public health agencies in the country have been supplied with vaccines, which are taken to protect themselves from the flu. Only after about 10,000 citizens were affected by the flu did the Health Ministry begin supplying these vaccines.
For less than two months about 10,000 citizens are estimated to have been affected by the seasonal flu in Kosovo, as more than 1,000 and 500 have been affected by acute respiratory infections. To protect against seasonal flu every year, citizens have been urged by health institutions to be vaccinated.
But this year, although there have been demands to vaccinate, these institutions have lacked vaccines, so even citizens have been unable to take the main measure of protection from the flu, which affects thousands of citizens every year, writes away “Zer”.
According to the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, seasonal flu vaccines must be taken by the end of October, but in Kosovo the supply with these vaccines has been delayed two months. The Health Ministry has extended 100 thousand flu vaccines on December 7th this year.
