Positioned on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, they are one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in the world.
Dramatic photos show how much water was available in January this year, while there was no water in December.
Some of the waterfall still flows a little under a slope more than 100m deep, while much of it has completely dried up.
Experts fear climate change is causing this, and the population there may be left without tourists.
Millions of tourists come to Zimbabwe and Zambia each year just to see the beautiful Victoria Falls scenario.
The past “there was drought, but not like that. This is our first time to see something like this”, said the souvenir salesman Dominic Niamba, the Guardian reported.
Because of the low water levels of the Zambezi River, the local population was already without electricity, as they rely on a hydropower plant in the river. Moreover, drought also affected crops, and food aid and water may soon be needed by 45 million people.
