Just before delivering the 20th speech before the nation for the New Year, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a host of laws, including the minimum wage increase of 7.5 per cent, to $155 respectively.
The minimum wage law envisions that the amount should not only be equal to the cost of living in the second quarter of a year ago but also exceed that figure.
According to the European Union's statistics agency, the lowest minimum wage by July among EU countries has been registered in Bulgaria, 286 euros.
The highest minimum salary on monthly grounds within the countries of the European bloc has been in Luxembourg, 2,071 euros.
Putin has also signed a law that again allows cigarette smoking in certain rooms at airports.
