Electricity Sector Hit for Lack of Security
By 2018, 11 people lost their lives in the workplace, and in 2018 the death toll was 22.
The most hit sector for lack of security and working health this year has been the electricity sector. This phenomenon remains disturbing, but according to Valon Leci, the task of chief inspector of the Labour Inspectorate, is committed to having security and health in the workplace.
Leci in this year's recent media conference, stressed that despite the challenges and small number of inspectors, over 10,000 inspections have been conducted or 500 more than last year.
This year we have some kind of paradox, bad news, but 11 people have lost their lives in the workplace or 50 percent less than last year. In the past year, 22 workers lost their lives at the workplace”, he said, adding that the target is that in the coming year there will be no dead people at the workplace.
Leci stressed that 1800 jobs have been legalised, which have worked without employment contracts. According to him, the Insectorate has issued 240 fines worth up to 400,000 euros.
However, Leci has not revealed the names of punished companies. Leci in the end said there were large numbers of complaints in inspectors, which have been addressed by thousands of them.
