Blerina K., 47-year-old, will travel to Croatia, respectively, to Zagreb, to receive medical treatment for cancer disease. The reason she is traveling there is that in Kosovo she cannot get the brahirapy ( brahirapy evidence serves to conduct gynaecological tumor radiation).
Despite the failure to apply to the Oncology Institute, Blerina has not been able to receive even doctor confirmation in order to benefit from the fund for treatment outside public health institutions, with the argument that next year this kind of therapy will begin to apply in Kosovo.
I don't have time to wait until next year, since I have such diagnosis. Brahirapy does not apply to Kosovo. That's why I decided to go to Zagreb clinic. Here they said that until next year the therapy that I have to get doesn't apply. At the same time, they have not even released the document that I need to be treated outside”, Blerina says.
This is about the means the Ministry of Health would have to release because treatment is not done here, but abroad. And as a family, we've decided to go by personal means, which I still don't know how much it costs to”, she said, writes relief.

The number of cancer victims this year in Kosovo has increased.
Ilir Kurtishi, director of the Oncology Institute at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, says this year is expected to close with 1600 new cancer cases. He further adds that brahiterpia will start applying to patients over the next year.
