In 2013, then Professor Junaid Hafeez was accused by his university students of making blasphemy posts on Facebook. The insult of the prophet Muhammad in Pakistan with a population 95 percent Muslim is a capital offense.
His lawyers said their client has become the victim of students from an extreme Islamic party because of liberal and secular stances.
“It will hang by rope to the throat until death”, says the court's order.
His lawyer, Assad Jamal, said he would file complaints to this ruling in a higher court.
There can be no fair trial for blasphemy in Pakistan. We have a system with no back. No one can face charges of blasphemy”, he said.
Otherwise, the trial against this person was held in a prison in the central Pakistani town of Multan, under strict security measures due to threats against the accused person's family and his lawyer, writes “Reuters”, broadcasts Express Journal.
