In her message Merkel said Germany will contribute to ensuring that Europe is the first continent to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
It accepted the target mentioned by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that the European Union should reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, during a UN climate summit earlier this week.
“Of course that means that all member states must co-operate. But not all have decided to do it,” stated Merkel. / ATSH/
