Israel Allows Gas Export to Egypt

For the first time in history, Israel is becoming an energy exporter. This is a historic moment for the state of Israel”, Steinitz declared.
He called this export the most important economic co-operation between Israel and Egypt since their 1979 Peace Treaty.
Gas will be exported through underwater pipelines through the southern Israeli coastal town of Ashkelon and the Egyptian city of al-Arish on the Sinai Peninsula.
Export is expected to begin within two weeks.
