Erdogan: We'll retaliate against the U.S. for sanctions.

Turkey's President, Recep Tayip Erdoğan, today voiced criticism over the threat of US sanctions on Turkish companies involved in the gas-projector's project as a “violation of our rights”. “Now they say we will impose sanctions on Turkish Stream”, Erdoğan told reporters in Malaysia, where he participated in the Kuala Lumpur [...] Summit.
“Now they say we will impose sanctions on Turkish Stream”, Erdoğan told reporters in Malaysia, where he participated in this week's Kuala Lumpur summit of Muslim world leaders.
“This is a complete violation of our rights”, Erdoğan said, pledging that Turkey would retaliate with sanctions against the US, AA follows.
The defence budget adopted by Congress included sanctions against companies involved in the “North Stream 2”, as well as the “Turkish framework” project, arguing the projects will make Europe dependent on energy.
The “North Stream project”, operational since 2011 with an annual capacity of 55 billion cubic metres, brings Russian gas directly to Germany via the Baltic Sea.
“North Stream 2”, led by Russian state energy company Gazprom, is almost complete and has the same annual capacity, almost parallel to the first gas pipeline route.
Together they will meet the annual gas requirements of a quarter of the European continent.
Turkey's “pipeline” has a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic metres, of which the first line will have a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic metres of Russian gas for Turkish consumers. The second line will carry another 15.75 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe via Turkey.
