These are the most affected countries in the world

Earthquakes are one of the most destructive of all natural disasters. They are very difficult to predict, as the events leading up to these disasters take place deep on the ground, and the movement of the tectonic plates is a major cause of earthquakes. Not every country in the world is sensitive to earthquakes. Here are the most affected countries worldwide:

China

China experienced 157 earthquakes from 1900 to 2016, the highest number of earthquakes in each country. Most of these earthquakes have occurred in the southwestern region of the country, where the terrain is very mountainous. Fortunately for China, some of the least populated provinces are located in this region. The rugged terrain and the harsh climate of this region are not favourable to support the high population. However, because of poor transportation infrastructure and remote mountain topography, rescue and recovery after an earthquake become an extremely challenging task, Scan broadcasts.

Indonesia

With 113 significant earthquakes between 1900 and 2016, Indonesia ranks as the world's second earthquake - prone country. The main reason for the high frequency of earthquakes in Indonesia is its location in the fire ring. Most of the world's earthquakes occur in the Fire Ring, which includes an area of about 40,000 square miles [40,000 sq km]. The movement of tectonic plates in the area, as well as volcanic submarine or surface eruptions, has caused many earthquakes that have affected Indonesia over the centuries, records albinfo.ch.

Iran

Iran, a country in the Middle East, is located in an area of high seismic activity. He has experienced at least 106 earthquakes between 1900 and 2016. The site is where Euroazitic and Arabic tectonic plates meet. Moreover, the seismic area includes most of the country, with an area of some 1,000 miles [1600 km] and 400 miles [400 km] wide. Instead of a single sharp margin on the plates, Iran has numerous fractures that make it more sensitive to catastrophic earthquakes.

Turkey

Like other countries on the list, Turkey also stands at the top of one of the world's most active seismic points, the border of the plaque between the Eurasian and Arabic tablets. The Arab plaque's movement, on the other hand, is caused by the formation and spread of the new crust along the middle ridges of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Adden, which is highly sensitive to earthquakes.

Japan

Like Indonesia, Japan is near the Pacific Fire Ring that makes it very vulnerable to catastrophic earthquakes. The movement and collisions of continental and oceanic tablets in Japan and around Japan are responsible for these disasters. Japan joins four different tectonic plates. These are North American tablets, Pacific tablets, Philippines tablets, and Eurasian tablets. The movement and descent of the Philippines and the Pacific tablets under two other tablets cause earthquakes.

Peru

Peru is on the interface between the South American plates and the Nazca. The first movement on the latter at a speed of 77mm annually is causing earthquakes. Volcanism in the highlands of Peru and the formation of Hendek Peru Ali and the Andes Mountains are also a result of the earthquake because of the movement of these plates.

United States

Part of the western coast of the United States is in the Pacific Fire Ring. Plaque tectonics are also active in the region. The dynamic border of Pacific and North America is responsible for many earthquakes in the country, especially Alaska and California.

Italy

In Italy, the southern part of the country is more sensitive to earthquakes after the Eurasian and African plates crash in the region. And most of Italy's most dangerous volcanoes, such as Etna, Vesuvius, and Stromboli, are located in the region.

Other earthquake - prone countries

Afghanistan and India are also very prone to earthquakes because of the action of tectonic plates. The Indian tablet is constantly moving north, crashing into the Eurasian plaque, the main cause of earthquakes in the Indian subcontinent. Greece and Mexico are also vulnerable to earthquake events.
