Most of the money will be spent by people over 50, 570 euros.
The Burgenland province tops the list with the planned 500-euro sum, while Forarlberg is at the bottom of the 400-euro list.
Each other Austrian will donate coupons or money to his loved ones.
In second place are gifts (38 percent), followed by books 30 percent).
One in four Austrians will donate clothing or cosmetics, with 13 percent jewelry, 11 percent sporting clothing, and only six percent a mobile phone.
