Merkel stressed that the federal government has worked for the organisation and control of migration and will continue to do so.
She added that the figures have shown that work has not been in vain but productive.
Merkel also stressed that, as Chancellor, she is co-aware of political events in the country.
“I am also very happy to hold this important post”, she added.
