Valmir Elez, spokesman for this institution, told the Online Economy, that the annihilation of the election material, which includes the ballot, is estimated to be the last phase of the election process.
“After every election process, sensitive election material, including balloting is destroyed. This is estimated to be the last phase of an election process”.
“Following the General Election Law for the destruction of the election material, the decision is made by the CEC within 60 days after the election result is certified. In accordance with the law, the CEC will make this decision and will certainly become public”.
Elez has further clarified that the entire election material is not destroyed. To be annihilated is not allowed material that is part of the prosecution's investigation, while part is preserved for the purposes of staff training, which engages in future election processes.
“Not all sensitive election material is destroyed. The material that is preserved is the state prosecutor's investigation and we have the obligation to keep it up until the completion of all procedures”.
“also, another part of the election material is preserved, and this is done for staff training purposes that engage in future election processes”.
