This already annual budget, since it has long been every two years, represents a slight increase in proportion to that of 2019 that has been $9.9 billion.
The “Ration has come because of additional missions attributed to the UN Secretariat, inflation and the exchange rate adjustment”, according to diplomats.
It's about the Yemen observation mission, the political mission created in the fall of Haiti, and the continuation of the investigation mechanisms on crimes committed in Syria since the beginning of the war in 2011 and Burma, under the pressure against the Muslim minority Ringya since 2017.
For the first time, the budgets of these Mechanisms, financed so far by voluntary contributions, will be passed in 2020 to the body's Secretariat budget - through the mandatory contributions of 193 member states.
