According to KDI, the water of these schools with chemical and bacterial contamination is because the supply of water schools is done through wells in the absence of a water supply, Kosovo reports.
“As a result of a field research conducted by the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), documents provided by the QRSHP and the assessment of the Directorate of Inspectorate in the municipality of the Year, water contamination in these schools is due to the age of water filters and the lack of wells. According to QRSHP data, contaminated water in schools can carry various types of microorganisms, and possibly cause infections like typhus, paratifo, dysentery and cholera.
KDI organized weeks ago appointment with municipal officials, school directors to discuss the results of the Public Health Institute's report on water quality in primary schools of the Year. The director of the Commission of the Year's Inspectorate. Skender Ahmeti, has asked the Municipal Education Directorate as well as school directors to maintain well-based spaces.
Ayhane Sefiu from the QRSHP had said that following tests by the QRSHP and the recommendations provided, no necessary measures have been taken by relevant authorities.
So based on data from the QRSHP and field research, KDI requires the municipality of the Year to take immediate measures for maintenance, cleaning and rehabilitation of these wells as the only opportunity to prevent continued water contamination with the ultimate goal of providing drinking water for these students.
