Oleg Sokolov, 63, was drunk and fell into the river until he tried to throw part of his partner's body, but without success, Russian media write, Periscopi translates.
Police later found the rest of the decreed body of Anastasia Yeschenko, 24, at his home in the town of St Petersburg.

“He admitted his guilt”, lawyer Alexander Pochuyev told the AFP news agency, adding that the historian repented of what he had done.
He lived with Mrs. Yeshchenko in a settlement near the Moika River in St Petersburg, and they had been together for three years.
He allegedly killed Mr. Yeschchenko with a sawarm before he distributed his body. A deaf pistol was found on his back along with his wife's arms.
The gun, knife, an axe and ammunition were also found in his apartment, the Interfax news agency reported./Periscopi/
