Not respecting children's rights, they're being exploited for work

A large number of children because of serious economic conditions, family obligations do hard work. Although the law does not allow minors to work, there are 6.8 percent of children in Kosovo who are forced to work under dangerous conditions, even victims of domestic violence. In [...]
On the 30th anniversary of the International Convention for Their Rights, it is being requested by institutions that children be equal and enjoy the rights to education and care.
Adopted for protecting children from all forms of violence, abuse or abuse, neither is the Law for Protection being respected.
That is what National Adviser for Avokim and Education in Kosovo Children's Villages Remzije Krasniqi says.
According to her, institutions have a mandate and should ensure that every child enjoys basic rights.
The situation is really not good in many areas. Even in the welfare of children, health, education, participation, and rights in general. Many underage children are seen on the streets, in various situations that work. Also, in terms of the involvement of children by various groups that are endangered, marginalised, or for a reason cannot be part of the education, education and benefit of the services they are entitled to, as well as children with limited skills”, Krasniqi said.
Many children are unfortunately falling short of parental attention, and this year alone are 65 children who have received services in SOS villages.
We have over 65 children receiving 24-hour services this year, and for various reasons they lose parental attention. In addition, there are more than 500 of us working with community families who are at risk of losing parental care. For various reasons the family is not ready and does not offer warmth, care and services to their children”, Krasniqi said.
That the plight of children in our country is not good, says Ahmet Kryeziu, director of Save the Children, under which Kosovo has much more to do with respecting their basic rights.
“We have marginalised groups that still do not realise rights. Here I can say are children from communities, especially communities. RAE, children with special needs, children in poor families. There is still work to be done to make these groups of children equal in our society. And it remains the duty of all specifically government, civil society to engage them to be part of society and development like any other child, Kryeziu declares.
Given the poor state of children's rights in Kosovo, Save the Children's Director in Kosovo tells Kosovo that they are working to help respect children's rights, calling on institutions to reflect on this common commitment.
On the occasion of marking the 30th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Coalition of NGOs for Children's Protection has urged the institutions today to take all the preparation actions for implementing the Child Protection Law in order to ensure the protection of children. The KMF has reaffirmed that the rate of child poverty in Kosovo is 20.7%.
“10.7% of children in Kosovo are involved in the work, while 6.8% of them work in dangerous conditions. 61.4 % of children in Kosovo have claimed to have experienced physical or psychological violence during the last month of the interview, when research was done. Only 10% of disabled children have access to quality health, social and education services”, the report said.
Otherwise, after six years, since its drafting, Kosovo institutions in June have adopted the Law on Child Protection, which aims to protect them from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect or any other form that endangers life, security, health, education, education and child development.
