The Trepca metallural Nation Miners in Kosovo on Monday have staged a strike.
Ghani Osmani has confirmed this by the Workers' Union for Radio Free Europe. According to him, entry into the strike has resulted from the October wage failure and poor working conditions.
The “Minators are on strike. There are three main points or demands of miners. Salaries paid, it's November 11th, and we still haven't received salaries, as well as miners haven't received a percentage of salaries in the past few months, food is very poor, now, and how many months miners haven't received gloves, work boots”, Osmani has declared.
He said the strike will continue until the required conditions are met.
Miners of the metallural plant “Trepca” say this company is going through a difficult financial phase, even as a cause of poor management.
Trepca is a stock society where 80 percent of the shares are in the Government of Kosovo, and 20 percent are shares of the employees in the enterprise.
Trepca was among the largest companies in the former Yugoslavia. But since the postwar has faced numerous problems that never recovered.
