The Eurodeput and EP visa liberalisation Rapporteur for Kosovo, Tanja Fajon, has reiterated that Kosovo has met the criteria to move freely, and that it expects the European Commission to be more committed to this issue in a statement on news.net, Fajon has stressed that it is time for the EU to fulfil [...] promises.
In a statement on news.net, Fajon has stressed that it is time for the EU to fulfill its promises.
That far has added that it expects much from the European Commission and the Finnish Presidency on this issue.
“Sic knows, Kosovo was given the green light for visa liberalisation by the European Parliament in April. Supposedly, the new European Commission (KE) will start operating in December. I expect the EC and the chairmanship of Finland to be more committed to this issue. I have called on them to turn the issue of visa liberalisation into an agenda for Kosovo. I keep the same attitude: Kosovo has met all conditions, which it is expected to meet. It is necessary for the EU to keep its pledge”, Fajon said.
On the other hand, Fajon has added that the European Parliament has a lot of failures with the Western Balkans, and that she believes the visa liberalisation issue for Kosovo should be brought back to the table.
In recent times, we at the European Parliament and the S&D group have enough failures in Western Balkan issues. It's time to start fulfilling the promises, too. As far as this is concerned, I sincerely hope that the issue of visa liberalisation for Kosovo will return to the table during Finland's” presidency, Fajon has said.
We remember that Fajon has repeatedly reiterated that Kosovo has met all conditions to gain visa liberalisation and that the EU is being unfair with the country.
