A 21-year-old account from Prizren shows why the market worker ended up as a masseuse

Serious financial conditions prompted 21-year-old Prizren to seek work in various private companies. But, she says, she did not expect luck and so tired of this situation she agreed to hire at one of Pristina's so-called massage centers, which the same offered sexual services.

She relates about the heavy moments she had for about three months until doubts begin to arise that she was working in such a living room.

Yeah, I'm in the last year of my studies, and I wanted to get a job, to help my family, because we had the harsh conditions. The only one working in the family was the older sister. I applied constantly for various jobs, mostly on these big markets. There, even though we worked without stopping, his small wages were all negatives. I was tired of asking for money, nor for clothes I had seen”, she relates in a conversation about Indexline.

As she felt depressed, a report of work she saw on social networking gave her hope that she could create a better financial life.

Yeah, the job notice I saw on a group of women on Facebook, though I had no connection with massages, but when I got there they told me they helped me out with everything, terrible. I even started it that day when we started on the market since our season. We're in the 4th Chika, and my family told him I'm a job at a four-euro store, and they've been able to do it for days when I'm at work that they've rarely come to Pristina”, she said during the conversation.

The same, she served at one of these relief centers in the capital until suspicions arose from several of her relatives.

Although she found it difficult to leave her job, she says that after three months she was struggling to break her contract.

Thus, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has granted the 330 locals license to perform various relaxed massages. According to this ministry in the 9th month of this year's permission to develop this business has taken away less than 43 operators.

But not all of these companies are sticking to contracts and points that can be exercised as business, for many there are suspicions that they exercise illegal and prostitution activities. So, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, respectively, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate at the request of the unit against human trafficking, and in co-operation with the municipal inspectors of the Pristina municipality, the Labour Inspectors, the ATK inspectors, during the month of February 2018, have conducted joint inspections of 26 economic operators who have carried out bodily maintenance activities and offering various massage services in Pristina's municipality.

The purpose of these inspections has been to verify whether the same exercises activity in accordance with legislation in force.

“8 Economic Operator has been temporarily closed by the Municipal Inspectors of the Pristina municipality, because they have undergone the event and have not been equipped with the Action on meeting minimum technical conditions and sanitation; 17 economic operators, market inspectors have pronounced fines because they have not set the price for provided services in a visible place; whereas 6, of them have exercised activity in compliance with the applicable laws. ”, has indicated Angie Stublla from MTI for Indexline.

For the exercise of this illegal event, Kosovo Police during 2017 and the first three months of this year have arrested 103 people.

According to police, the same persons are suspected of criminal acts: trafficking with people, opportunity or forced prostitution, offering establishments for prostitution, co-ordination, and breaking order and public calm under prostitution.
