His research began after he received a Facebook request from his target victim and accepted it, police say.

Yankees soon began to speak clearly about sex with the young girl, also looking for photos of nudo.

Early this month, Yankees asked Kyle if he wanted to go visit him.

But the fate of the suspected pedophile changed when he arrived there and found that he had been the victim of a secret violation of law enforcement.

Yankees had actually talked to an official from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office who was working with Internet Crimes at a Task Force for Children.

The suspect was arrested as soon as he left the bus, and was charged with using a computer to try to convince, promote or attract the minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.

He faces 10 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutor Matthew D Krueger said: Our nation faces an epidemic of sexual abuse of children, with the internet making it very easy for predators to communicate with children throughout the country. The Justice Department is committed to working with federal, state and local agencies for law enforcement to aggressively prosecute child sexual abuse.
