Although there has been a year and a half since this court has started interviewing suspects and witnesses, no charges have been filed.
For this, The Hague Prosecutor's Specialised Chambers spokesman Christopher Bennett has told news.net that the work is continuing and that they cannot talk about deadlines of when the establishment of the charges could occur.
While the chairman of the KLA War Veterans' Organisation, Hysni Gucati, said that at the end of this month, the first charges could be filed as they are now in the end.
A special lawyer named Tome Gashi stated that publishing the first charges is only a matter of weeks.
The Special Prosecutor's Office is the only one who can accurately know whether the charges were filed at the Special Court in The Hague or not so far. Considering that on the basis of legal provisions neither the Special Prosecutor's Office nor the Special Court has any legal obligation to publicise the establishment of the first charges, I believe the special issue at The Hague remains for a time, Gashi has said.
He has stressed that more than 100 people as suspects and over 800 losers have been interviewed so far.
And we have three years of special formation and we have more than a year and a half that it is functional overall with all legal infrastructure. We know that more than 100 people have been invited so far and questioned the quality of suspects, while more than 800 listeners have so far been questioned by the Special. So it's just a matter of weeks when first acts will be made public, something else may be speculation because no one has exact information, no one has”, the lawyer has declared.
According to him, destabilisation in Kosovo cannot even begin arrests.
There will be no “Absolutely, the Special does not have any links to politics in Kosovo, of course there may be minor protests, but no destabilisation. Kosovo's opinion has been prepared for years for the start of special work, and anyone arrested may only have expressions of resentment to small groups, but in any option there will be no destitbalisation. Those who propagand that there might be destabilisation are the same ones who have been the most vocal for special formation, so there is no danger at all. If the Special has so far reached the highest pedestal I believe this case is only a threat without any reality”.
Gashi has stressed that if individuals or specific groups attempt to destabilise the situation, they will do so because Albin Kurti will now be prime minister and for their own interests could cause unrest.
