Kosovo on Tuesday is expected to be again challenged for membership in the international police organisation, Interpol, but despite the application, security connoisseurs and international relations are expressed for Kosova Press, sceptical that our country can be accepted this time in this multilateral police organisation.
Although last year Kosovo failed, and several years ago it did not apply, lobbying preparations for this year are considered to have become less and more wrong. Meanwhile, from the Foreign Affairs Ministry dictatorship, there was no answer to what Kosovo's expectations are for this year.
Security Affairs Knower Nuredin Ibishi says the most appropriate moments for lobby, Kosovo was found in early elections. That, according to him, has lost the interest of institutions to lobby in a proper and consistent manner.
On the other hand, according to Ibishi, Serbia's aggressive campaign and the place where the Interpol Assembly in South America will be held do not create a hopeful environment for Kosovo.
Ibishi: It wasn't lobeed the right way.
“has not been lobbied in the right way, in the sense that not only were we found in the campaign phase for the seventh legislature's election. But really the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the first place, but also the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Government of Kosovo has done very little to contribute to our accession. On the other hand, we are in a situation Serbia has consistently lobeed and lobbies against our accession. And a situation where in South America there are many countries that have really rejected us as a country, and are against our accession. We don't have a very hopeful environment”, Ibishi says of KosovoPress.
Meanwhile, international relations connoisseur Artan Murati says Kosovo should be more cautious in the application, as according to him, a potential rejection would negatively influence reports with member states and vote against.
Murati: We're constantly taking hasty steps to apply
We are constantly taking urgent steps to apply without the ground and depositing member states and states that will vote. I think we should be very careful with the maneuvers. A potential rejection would negatively influence reports with member states and vote against”, Murati claims.
Although initially Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Rayhan Vunqi had confirmed their expectations for membership in Interpol, she was later not available in Kosovo Preress's calls.
On the days of the approaching Interpol assembly in Chile, South America, Serbia's lobbying campaign against Kosovo has taken off. Their interior minister, but foreign affairs minister, said they would wage a tough fight so that Kosovo is not part of this police organisation.
Otherwise, to accept Kosovo needs the vote of two-thirds of member states, or of 194 countries, more than 120 votes must be secured.
