These monitors installed at four different locations in the country are part of the JICA technical co-operation project “The project of developing capacities for air pollution control in the Republic of Kosovo”.
Monitors will help citizens in Pristina monitor air pollution levels.
Outgoing Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Fatmir Matoshi said this is their commitment to raising citizens' awareness and the importance of clean air, and that the latter be informed of air quality in real time.
We started a project in 2017 with JICA and will continue until 2020. A project worth over four million, which has had a lot of joint engagements throughout this time, such as the repair of centers, such as equipping the Hydrometeorology Institute with new instruments and new instruments, training the officials of the Ministry of Environment on the air issue, such as measuring air pollution parameters, as well as our thermal power plants and cases that were not previously known to citizens even the officials of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning <18x>, Matosh said.
He hopes that these actions will affect improving air in the capital.
And, Jiro Takeichi, the principal representative of JICA's Balkan office, has hoped that these monitors will be maintained for a long time so that citizens can be exploited.
And I'm glad we're doing the installation of four screens for showing air quality data downtown. Now citizens are able to see the index or real-time air quality Corps. And they will be more aware of the quality of the air. And I think citizens' awareness should support the government's location. I hope these angles will last a long time. And I hope that these screens will be used for the population, especially the education of the new generation on this matter”, she said.
Letafette Latifi, director of the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, has presented the data on the monitor set near the “Teresa” Square, under which the air is currently acceptable, but according to it should be careful.
It has shown what the cost of maintaining these monitors will be.
Latif: Cost of maintenance will be around three thousand euros
The cost of maintenance, according to some current estimates, is about three thousand, but it's roughly, it's not right, we'll see how much this first six months worth of testing phase”, Latif said.
Latifi said the possibility will be seen for such monitors to be deployed in the Obilic municipality as well.
Jiro Takeichi, the principal representative of JICA's Balkan office, has also shared the certificate of the equipment list, which will be donated from Japan to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
Four monitors for publishing air quality data are located nearby August, the former Renaissance and the cathedral “Mother Teresa”
