Macro is not convinced of the negotiations: Albanian youth comes mostly to EU

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has failed to persuade French President Emmanuel Macron for opening negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia. While Macron said he welcomes reforms undertaken by the two Balkan states, but also stressed that “would stick to our political statements as far as the issues are concerned”.
Macron said the Balkans is a strategic region for Europe, but initially the accession procedure must be reformed. He also noted that Albanian youth emigrate more and more frequently to the European Union.
Albania's “Youth comes mostly to the EU and we see it mostly in France. I would have stopped again at the restoration of the procedure or its repair. I'm declaring my geopolitical vision at the side of the Chancellor, but I have to explain these other things”, Macron said. / TCh/
