The Amazon founder restored the throne to Bill Gates because of the company's collapse on Wall Street. This led to Bezo's net worth of $103.9 billion.
Gates, Microsoft cofounder, has a fortune of $1.7 billion, according to Forbes. Bezos would still be the richest man if he hadn't divorced his wife MacKenzie earlier this year.
He agreed to give MacKenzie a quarter of his shares in the Amazon when they concluded the divorce agreement in July.
Before the divorce, Bezo's value peaked at $150 billion in 2018. The software pioneer Gates spent 24 years at the top of the list of the richest people in the world, but Bezo was replaced last year to return.
