Carmon-Taubadel is currently involved in developments in Kosovo, as she has been chief of the European Union's observer mission in elections, which were held this weekend in the country.
The German Eurodeput will replace Igor Sholtesin, who has previously held this position in the European Parliament.
Carmon-Taubadel also comes from the same parliamentary group in the European Parliament, which belonged to Sholtes.
European Parliament rapporteurs for the Western Balkans are responsible for drafting annual reports approved by the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, which are later discussed at the plenary sessions.
