The place where farmers and winemen are solving problems

From now on, Rahovec's winers do not need to wait long to perform administrative services.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development has established a special department in this country, which deals exclusively with issues related to vine and winetery.

The director of the Department of Killery and Winery, Bekim Hoxha, says they are thus closer to farmers.

Not by chance, the location is located in Rahovec and we are very close to producers, processors, winemen and farmers who need a quick and efficient service. The Department of Holestery and Verteria is structured under its mandate, in four divisions. The vineyard division, the wine division, the division for warning early diseases and pests and laboratory division”, says Bekim Hoxha, director of this department.

The Holestry Division in this department is running Nesim Morina.

This division manages all vineyards in Kosovo.

The vinedressing division handles management of all the vineyards in Kosovo while managing the vine cadastre. It records all the issues related to changes in the vineyard records. We within the division offer a series of services to farmers. We issue more than 4 thousand certificates on various issues the farmers need, starting with the grants, subsidies, mortgage issues, and their needs for farmers”, Morina suggested.

While, the Summer Division in this department is led by Ylber Kuci.

One of the main tasks of this division is that only quality wines will be cracked in the market.

The department also cares for farmers ' vineyards, so that they will not be harmed either by illness or by anything else.

They have installed a system that provides quick and accurate information on the condition of vineyards.

We're using this system to provide quick and precise information about microclimate in vineyards, because we have equipment mounted into vineyards, and then it gives us information about when the damage or disease is presented in vineyards. Based on these, this system enables us to prepare what measures a farmer should take, preventative or curative”, says Sylejman Bala, employee of the Department of Holestry and Vertaria.

This system according to Balaj can reduce production costs by up to 20 percent.

Also part of the department is the laboratory, where wine standards are carefully controlled.

This wine testing lab is accredited on the basis of the 17025 standard since 2014.

Otherwise wine testing is done in the laboratory, both for export and import.

“into the lab comes samples, coded and tested wine in the lab. Based on the physical-chemical wine parameters, certificates are issued for export or import of wine”, the lab manager, the lab manager, announced.

The department has also built a greenhouse in which different grape clones are stored.

These clones then offer suggestions to farmers about what kind of grapes will be planted.

This department is also building a basement, where these clones will be tested.

And from this basement will come the best wines that Kosovo institutions leaders will distribute as gifts.
