Finally, negotiations on EU enlargement at the Brussels summit fail. According to EurActiv, this issue is not on today's agenda. However, it may be mentioned in the final conclusions.
One source told the portal that there were reports that three states opposed the launch of negotiations, but the issue is not simple because there were those states that favour the division of Albania and Northern Macedonia.
EurActiv writes that after blocking the start of negotiations, French President Emmanuel Macron avoided media last night and this morning by not leaving the main door.
European Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyeen said several general words.
“Pat a very positive atmosphere for the extraordinary achievements these countries have made to draw close to the EU.
It is very important that we want to give a strong signal from this summit how important these countries are to us, who have worked hard and demonstrated that they are getting closer and closer to the European Union.
: It's very important for us to develop a common perspective”, she said.
