The budget for treatment abroad exceeds 4.5m euros

According to MSh data, during nine months of this year 10,000 and 63 patients have applied to this institution to receive treatment abroad. Of them 492 cases have received treatment, while 571 cases are pending treatment. The most frequent cases that require treatment abroad are from the clinics of Pediatrics, Orthopedicia, and Othalmology, writes Koha Ditore today.
According to Health Union Chairman Blerim Syla, the lack of health insurance in Kosovo is enabling countries in the region to make offers for operations that are not conducted in Kosovo health institutions. He has voiced scepticism on the issue that this year the SSH will function.
I don't think SSH will be functional within this year. We have to create adequate conditions in health institutions in the country. When we create these conditions, then we can say we can start with the SSH, whatever else it says on the matter is fraud”, she has declared Syla.
According to Besim Kodra from the Association of Patients' Rights in Kosovo (PRAK), the lack of services in public institutions has caused patients to need services abroad.
