Centre left candidate Alberto Fernandez has been elected president of Argentina by a vote dominated by economic concerns.
Fernández secured more than 45% of the votes needed to win, defeating conservative Maurizio Macri, the BBC writes.
A large number of citizens gathered at Fernandez's election headquarters to celebrate the outcome.
The vote was held amid an economic crisis that has left one third of Argentina's population in poverty.
Citizens voted mainly for what they believed is the right one that could distance the country from the economic crisis.
Macri, meanwhile, had promised that he would succeed in converting the country into poverty cezero, but things deteriorated during his four-year term.
His supporters say he had inherited an economy underground for whose recovery he needed more time. /Persycopi/
