This agreement was named a historic significance for Kosovo's political, legal and economic integration into the European Union.
The Stabilisation and Association Agreement requires a country aimed at EU membership, to ensure that its mechanisms of governance and civil society meet EU standards.
The signing of the SAA was made by former Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa in Strasbourg.
Even though the SAA is praised as an important move by Kosovo's walk towards the EU, Kosovo is the only state in the region that does not have visa liberalisation, even though it has met all the criteria required by EU member states.
