1135 domestic violence cases for 7 months, experts count causes and demand punishment

According to Kosovo Police data, only during the January-August 2019 period 1135 cases of domestic violence were reported, until according to the report sent to Online Economy is estimated that cases of domestic violence have seen rise year-on-year.

Between 2015 and eight months of 2019, 6201 cases of domestic violence have been reported, until experts claim the number of domestic violence victims is greater, but not all cases are presented to the police.

Sociologist Besim Gallopen, has stated that according to global statistics, 1/3 of women have experienced physical or sexual violence, until you see the significant number of cases of domestic violence disturbing.

“Dhuna in the family has generally accompanied society throughout its development, and this manifests itself in all countries. According to global statistics every third of females over 15 years have experienced at least physical or sexual violence once in their lifetime. According to statistics in Kosovo, over 1,500 cases of violence are denounced in relevant institutions in our society within the year. This is very disturbing for us as society”, he said.

Gallopen has called on all women who are experiencing domestic violence to present him to the police and relevant institutions to deal with the denounciator.

The problem is very big on this level because domestic violence still views it as violence belonging to the individual, family or something isolated in our society. In most cases we silence violence, this is extremely dangerous. I call on the violence never to be viewed as an isolated case, but we always have to present it to competent institutions, and actions are taken against the person in this case manifesting violence”, he said.

He stressed that our society should become more aware, as he said 1/3 of the cases were not denounced in relevant institutions, which, according to him, is not due to financial conditions, fears that divorce or even the outcome of fatal violence.

Our society is not yet 1/3 of the cases denounced in responsible institutions, it is a disturbing fact, because violence should be denounced despite the nature of its manifestation. Both genders do not denounce violence, but the most pronounced is to the feminine world because its economic dependence on man, made them afraid and its existence can deteriorate if it is denounced and can lead to divorce or perhaps even more fatal violence, as we have had many cases in our society of”, he said.

Gallopen pointed out that the causes of domestic violence are the struggle for rights gain, stress or frustration, poverty and unemployment. So, as he said, these all send to domestic violence to free their behavior.

The female, believing in silence, and overcoming this individual and family situation, tries to love me with the condition to remove domestic violence, and thus cause this to suffer. The main causes of violence are individual and social, the struggle between the gains of rights from the female world towards the male world that it has so far. The male world constantly aims to preserve the rights and superiority of its family leads to conflict and domestic violence. There are also people who are stressed and frustrated and the economic situation in the country. All this frustration finds the most suitable place to be freed in the family. About 30 percent of our population are unemployed, we have a large number of the overall and extreme poverty rates. Especially when citizens fail to solve these problems to find different forms of behavior”, Gallopen said.

Among other things, he has mentioned consumption of narcotics and alcohol as a secondary cause.

Gallopen stated that domestic violence affects those who mostly suffer from children, according to him, all affects children's failure, socialism, and increases aggression.

The risks are, of course, the consumption of narcotics, drugs, alcohol. That by failing to control yourself, he can only lead to domestic violence. What most you suffer in addition to the victim is the children who are the least of us as family and society we care about in this regard. Children always experience domestic violence as some cause of violence. It reflects a lack of success, socialism with peers and with the circle in which they live, but it reflects also on the success of learning and increasing aggressiveness”, he said, until he added that in case the case of violence is not handled properly by responsible institutions, then citizens lose faith in them.

As he said, these cases should not be neglected, as they may take on even broader proportions.

If violence is denounced, we have the chance that institutions do not treat it seriously or that it has not been dealt with for a long time. Citizens lose the trust of institutions that they can solve their family problems and find other forms toward the manifestation of violence, whether psychological or physical or sexual. Institutions should be reflected immediately when various cases of domestic violence are presented and not neglected. The more we don't deal with these cases and naturally neglect violence will take on even broader size and greater manifestations in our society in general”.
