Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and his adviser, will not be a US candidate for World Bank head.
She, however, will help select American candidates, the White House announced, broadcast Bloomberg.
World Bank President Jim Jong Kim unexpectedly announced last week that he gives up this position, more than three years before the mandate ends.
US Treasury Secretary Steven Menuchin has asked Ivanka Trump to assist in the US election process, which in the past two years has been working closely with World Bank leadership”, said Jessica Dito, deputy director of communication at the White House.
Dito stressed that information about Ivanka's consideration as a candidate was incorrect.
The World Bank Committee announced on Thursday that it will begin to get nominations for a new leader next month and that it will appoint a replacement for Kim by mid-April.
