Under pressure from President Trump's administration and with President Trump's promise of a peace ceremony, Kosovo's president has pledged to take a major step towards resolving tensions with the Balkan rival Serbia.
Trump has made an extremely direct invitation to the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia at the time when the hostilities of the past 10 years threaten to erupt in armed conflict, while his administration works in hidden channels to reduce tensions with Russia-backed Serbia.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has made a diplomatic trip to Berlin last month, where he met US Ambassador Richard Green, a reliable man of President Trump.
Thaci pledged that he would commit to changing courses to sanctioning tariffs in all Serbian goods. In a conversation with The Washington Post on Friday, carried out in English with electronic exchanges, Thaci said he is “ready to consider removing tariffs if Kosovo is given a clear path towards reaching a peaceful final agreement with Serbia”. /Periscopi
