Thaci publishes the letter he sent to Trump: Willing for Compromise

The Kosovo president has pledged that he will carry out his part of the job and appeal to citizens to follow the call made by President Trump.

It says in the December letter that it wants “to speak in a voice during peace talks and refrain from actions that would make a more difficult decision”.

Thaci has assured President Trump that he is willing and willing to make the compromises needed to reach a comprehensive and balanced agreement that would involve all open issues and end the centuries-old conflict with Serbia.

This is the contents of President Thaci's letter sent to President Trump:

 Your Honor. President, let me start by wishing you and your family happy New Year's and many successes in 2019.

The people of Kosovo and I are especially pleased with the letter you sent me on December 14, 2018, in which you express America's steadfast support for Kosovo <x0 independent and sovereign”.

 As we have discussed in Paris, and as I have explained in detail to the Secretary of State Mike Pompeii, as well as Councillor for National Security John Bolton, during my recent visits to Washington I agree with you that an agreement that would resolve all open issues between Kosovo and Serbia is near now.

Therefore, let me offer you my personal guarantees of how the president of Kosovo will be willing and willing to make the compromises needed to reach a comprehensive and balanced agreement, which will include all open issues, thus ending the century-long conflict with Serbia.

Let me underline, Mr. President, the historical character of what we're talking about here. The agreement reached will not be temporary peace or frozen conflict. We are trying to get out of this district and reach a permanent agreement in which both sides know each other and give up the conflict, and under which Kosovo becomes a member of the United Nations. Such a historic achievement requires maximum commitment from both sides. I pledge to do my part of the job. I will appeal to my fellow Kosovar citizens to follow the call you made in the December letter that “speak in a voice during peace talks and refrain from actions that would make a more difficult reachable” agreement.

 I enjoy the opportunity to cooperate closely with you and with many of our friends in the United States in developing this diplomatic initiative. And, as you have generously suggested, there is no better way to celebrate our success than to follow your leadership and join you in the White House, where peace and history come together.

Finally, let me seize this opportunity and invite you to visit Kosovo, meet the most pro-American and American people serving in Kosovo, and witness our shared success in building a multiethnic Kosovo devoted to peace, freedom and justice.
