The most sacred place in Islam is the “that is cut” out of thousands of locusts, forcing cleaners to act to remove insects.
The video distributed on social networks features insects that have gathered around the Great Mosque in Mecca, which hosts millions of Muslim pilgrims each year.
In one video, insects can be clearly seen when the night sky is lit by the lights of the mosque.
A closer look shows them dancing in all directions over the heads of the green - uniformed cleaners trying to deal with them.
Another video shows insects covering the walls of the mosque as they are scattered everywhere.
Mecca authorities shared pictures on Twitter of the cleaners, wearing facial masks, dusting the insecticide, while they tried to disinclimate the country.
According to CNN's Arab page, authorities have claimed that insects were identified as black carcacles.
The official reaction is said to have been migraine insects and 138 people have been employed for their elimination.
