At least 31 people were injured by an earthquake that today hit an area west of Iran, near the Iraqi border, the Iranian agency IRNA reported.
The US Geological Ent initially announced that the earthquake was a 5.9-magnitude scale scale of Richter, but later said the earthquake was 5.5, Reuters broadcast. An Iranian emergency service spokesman, Mogthaba Kaledi, told IRNA that 29 people were hospitalised after the quake in Kermanshah province, all with minor injuries.
Otherwise, more than 700 people were injured in a 6.3-strong earthquake, according to Richter, which hit Iran in November last year, broadcasts Kosovas Press.
