The Association of Patients' Rights in Kosovo has addressed a public letter to Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Minister Uran Ismaili, and the Parliament's deputies, through which it is said that the increase in wages of health workers without the assessment of performance is wrong and harmful to health reform.
According to this association, there are a number of reasons why doctors ' wages should not be raised.
Kosovo's “Health System is experiencing great pain. Our citizen dies ten years earlier than European citizen. Our babies die triple that in Europe. There's a lack of framework and there's an unemployed doctor. There's pronounced subfinance and inadequate budget management. Kosovo's health budget is much lower than in the countries of the region. In search of recovery, about a hundredm euros a year our patients spend out of the country”, the Prak public letter says.
Pressure for salary increases through strike, PRAK called it a non-creative tool. According to them, years ago doctors' salaries increased, but not even the quality of services.
Such an increase in wages without any analysis and without any evidence that quality in health services will improve does not give us any competition that health results will improve. We have the first few years of salary increases for health personnel, and there is no evidence that that growth had a positive impact on improving the health situation”, the letter further states.
According to them, the main solution is to implement the Integrated Health Information System (SIISH) priority in health health health care. /Periscopi/
