It was January 4th, 2017, when Kosovo's Alliance for the Future leader Ramush Haradinaj, and Kosovo's prime minister, was arrested on the basis of an international arrest sheet issued by Serbia in 2004.
He remained in France until April 27th when he was released by Colmar's Court of Appeals, saying no to his extradition after Serbia had made several demands for French authorities to extradite Haradinaj to Belgrade to try him for the 1998-1999 war crimes.
Regarding his arrest, there had been many reactions from the political sphere in the country, which they called as the provocation of Serbia and political kidnapping, where protests were organised both inside and outside Kosovo.
Reactions to this arrest also came from European Parliament Deputy Speaker Ulrike Lunacek, who had asked the European Union to pressure Serbia to remove Kosovars from the lists of old arrests, and called Haradinaj's arrest unacceptable.
A few months after his return from France on 9 September 2017, the AAK leader became Kosovo's prime minister.
This is not the first time former commander U n The CK for the Dukagjini Zone is arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by Serbian authorities.
In June 2015, Haradinaj was arrested at the airport in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, under an arrest warrant issued by Serbia in 2006.
On the basis of Serbia's war crimes charges against Serb civilians and their allies, Ramush Haradinaj was tried at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
Haradinaj, who in 2005 had left the post of Kosovo prime minister to surrender to The Hague, had been declared twice innocent by the international court. /Call. com
