Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has offered his support to Venezuela's Nicolas Maduron, whose fall is being supported by the US and other states of the democratic world.
Brother Maduro, stay, Turkey is with you”, Erdogan has told Maduro colleagues through a call, Periscopi broadcast.
Erdogan and Maduro have close relations for several years.
By contrast, Venezuela's leader, Nicolas Maduro, cut off relations with the United States after Washington recognised opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president.
Maduro gave 72 hours to American diplomats to leave his country.
On Wednesday, Guaido declared himself president during mass antigovernmental protests.
The US said “-President Maduro” no longer has authority and called on the military to support Guaido.
So far, the army remains loyal to Maduro.
The economy in Venezuela has weakened under President Maduro.
High inflation, power cuts, and lack of basics have caused millions of people to flee this country.
Thousands of citizens have taken part in a rally Wednesday in the capital, Caracas, in support of Guaido, who is the leader of the National Assembly.
He told crowds that the protests will continue “until Venezuela is released”./Periscopi/
