The American Psychiatric Association classifies fatty omega-3 acid (most found in fish) as a supplemental treatment for depression. Psychiatrists have recently been conducting studies that in addition to their way of life affects mental health.
A group of scientists from the International Psychiatric Research Association argue that food diet is as important to psychiatry as to cardiology and gastro-enterology.

Many studies have linked depression with small amounts of vitamin B, while lack of vitamin D plays a role in developing schizophrenics in children.
