Besarta's story of her last conversation with her father, Emma

Besarta has confessed as her childhood until the attack on Prekaz, it was common like all other children.

Raised in a large family of more children, she relates that because the Jashar family was always persecuted, they were accustomed to guns.

Because of the occasional siege of their homes on the part of Serbs, Bessarta says the children had been forced to interrupt school for certain periods.

Besarta relates the last conversation he had with his father on the morning of March 5, 1998, the date when intense fighting had begun between the Serbian Army and the Jashar family.

It was the early morning of March 5th. The loud sound of tanks has ruined my sleep. When I went to the other room, I saw my mother wake up before Mass. She told me to get some wood, and she came with me. When we got out in the yard, Daddy was outside listening. I told him what all these noises are. He told me the tank noises, but don't worry they're going to Lashakt's neighborhood. Then he told his mother that we should go inside”.

She, at RTV Dukaagjini, relates further that after the fighting had begun, she had heard her father and brother Kushtrim sing the song “for the best”. While they were singing, Besarta says he thought everything would be okay.

She adds that on March 5th, the first to be killed, was Adem Yasar's wife, as she was heading upstairs to pick up ammo.

Until March 7th, everyone else was alive, except for Adam's wife who was killed on a ladder as she was going to pick up ammo on the upper floor of the house”, Besarta Jashar relates among other things.
